  • What is Augmented Reality (AR)? 
    Augmented Reality is the ability to display 3D digital content on top of reality. The content might contain 3D animated characters, images, videos or text, resulting in a more immersive and richer user experience.
  • Is AR available on my device?
    An AR experience is included automatically with every Snaappy installation. However, the full 3D immersive experience is enabled only on devices that fully support AR functionality. It depends on a combination of software and hardware. Currently, the following iOS devices which are running iOS 11 are fully supporting AR experience:
    • iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
    • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
    • iPhone SE
    • iPad Pro (9.7, 10.5 or 12.9) – both first-gen and 2nd-gen
    • iPad (2017)
    • iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
    • iPhone X
    Android devices will full AR support are coming soon as well.
  • What is AR City Tour?
    AR City Tour is a special AR experience where users can travel around their city and meet interesting 3D city characters. Users can take a photo or record a video with these characters and share it online.
  • What is an AR message?
    An AR message is a new type of message containing user-defined digital content that is displayed in a 3D Augmented Reality setting. Such messages contain a user-selected Snaappy character, photos, videos and text, all added by the message creator.

    When the receiver views the AR message, 3D digital content is being augmented in their physical world.
  • What is a GEO AR message?
    A GEO AR message is a new type of message, similar to an AR message. The main difference between the two is that in order to view the message, the receivers will need to navigate to the original location where the message was created.
  • What are Snaappy clips and how do I use them?
    Snaappy clips use innovative technology to place a 3D character on a photo alongside with special sound effects and user’s own voice which can then be shared with friends or through social media.
  • How do I create a GEO AR message?
    1. Tap the AR icon (the 2nd button at the bottom left corner of the main screen).
    2. Tap “Create a GEO AR Message”.
    3. To start the AR session, move your device around to detect a surface (the yellow square will turn blue once a surface has been detected).
    4. Click the blue square to place the default character.
    5. Once this is done you can add animations, images, videos or text to your AR message by moving your device around and tapping the required place holder.
    6. Approve your location.
    7. Share this AR content with friends.

  • How do I add emotions to a video clip?
    1. Tap the AR icon (the 2nd button at the bottom left corner of the main screen).
    2. Tap “Add emotions to your videos”.
    3. Tap “Record your thoughts” button to start recording the video.
    4. Select the required emotions. You’ll see how much time the animation takes as the selected frame’s background changes from black to blue.
    5. Tap “Record your thoughts” button again to finish recording the video.
    6. Once recorded you can view and share your digital/real-world creation.
  • How do I add emotions to a photo?
    1. Tap the AR icon (the 2nd button at the bottom left corner of the main screen).
    2. Tap “Add emotions to your photos”.
    3. Capture a live image or select an existing photo from your gallery.
    4. Select the required emotion, place and resize as required.
    5. Add optional sound effects or record your own voice.
    6. Once completed you can share your digital/real-world creation.
  • How do I add a friend in Snaappy?
    Ask your friend to install Snaappy on their device and make sure their phone number is in your device’s address book. Once done, your friend will be automatically added to your Snaappy contact list.
  • Why can’t I see my friend in Snaappy?
    If you still can’t see your friend in Snaappy after they have installed the app and once their phone number appears in your device’s address book, you may need to refresh the contact list by simply swiping down on the list. This will likely be necessary if you recently added your friend’s phone details to your device’s address book.
  • What is the prediction feature all about?
    The prediction feature is a special AI algorithm that helps you reply 3D animated characters faster. Every time you will receive a 3D animated character, you will notice the golden glow behind it. Once taped, a special menu with suggestions will appear on screen. The AI algorithm improves with time and usage.
  • Why I see strangers in my chat list?
    The strangers you see in your chat list are users who are suggested to you by Snaappy. These people are carefully selected according to our special matching algorithm. You can always turn this feature off in the app settings.
  • How do I send an emoji?
    How to send an emoji varies based on the device you’re using:

    Android

    Android 2.0 to 4.0: You can install any emoji-enabled keyboard available in Google Play (such as Google Keyboard).
      Samsung devices (Android 4.4+): Press and hold the microphone (or gear) icon located to the left of the space bar on your keyboard.
      Nexus devices (Android 4.4+): Press the smiley icon located in the lower right corner of your keyboard.
      Android 4.1+: You can install any emoji-enabled keyboard available in Google Play (such as Google Keyboard).
      Android 5.0+: Press and hold the Send button on your keyboard. The smiley button will appear.

    iOS

      • Switch to emoji keyboard and send your emoji as usual.
  • Why am I not receiving new message notifications?
    If you experience delays with Snaappy notifications, check your internet connection and make sure the “Sounds and Notifications” Settings are correct. Snaappy’s notification configuration settings can be found within your device’s general “Settings” menu – Snaappy will appear as an option along with your other installed applications. These settings can also be configured within the Snaappy app through the “Settings” screen.

    This issue may also occur on devices with built-in power saving features. You need to ensure your applications are enabled to run in background mode (this option is usually found in Battery settings).
  • Can I make voice calls in Snaappy?
    Yes! To make a voice call simply tap the phone icon on the top right hand side of the chat screen.
  • Can I exchange audio files?
    We’re currently working on an MP3 file exchange feature. Once it’s released you’ll be able to exchange MP3, PDF, DOC, XLS, and more.
  • I didn’t receive an SMS code. What should I do?
    As part of the registration process we need to validate your contact information. To do this we send you an SMS code to the number you supplied and request you enter this code to complete the validation.

    This process is automated and you should receive your SMS code within a few seconds. If your code did not arrive please make sure you entered your phone number correctly. If you don’t receive the SMS code and your number correctly appears, our automated system will call you. After 3 failed attempts there is a 24 hours cool down period.

  • The app says my phone number is invalid. What should I do?
    Make sure the phone number you entered follows the international format, and try again. Specifically, the first zero digit in your number entered for domestic calls should not be included when entering a phone number in the international format.
  • What is Live-Typing and how do I use it?
    Live-typing allows you to see what the other user you’re chatting with is typing as they type in real time. Live-Typing makes messaging faster and more efficient for an enhanced user experience.
  • What is a personal profile?
    Think of the personal profile as a dynamic visual greeting card. You can display up to five photos for others to view, comment and like.
  • How do I get more 3D animated characters?
    Snaappy has many friends that are available for download for free. Each character pack has been specially designed to help you convey an emotional message visually.

    Click the sticker gallery button (Snaappy’s head) just to the right of the text input field inside the chat screen then click the “+” button in the bottom right hand corner and select the character pack(s) you’d like to download from the character download screen.

    In the settings screen you can select the display order for your character packs in the chat screen, or even make some of the downloaded character packs invisible.
  • Can I personalize a 3D character?
    Yes! By holding down the selected character, you’ll be offered a chance to either add text or audio to the selected character before it is sent.
  • Why does Snaappy ask permission to access my address book?
    Snaappy needs to access your address book to identify which of your friends are registered Snaappy users.
  • Why does Snaappy ask permission to access my location?
    Snaappy needs to access your location only when you are using location based AR features.
